THE NEXT ECONOMY PROGRAMME EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS TRAINING AND INTERNSHIP PLACEMENT
ABOUT SOS CHILDREN’S VILLAGES
SOS Children’s Villages is an independent, non-governmental, social development organization that focuses on the child’s development into a self-supporting and contributing member of society. Recognizing the role of the child in his/her own development, as well as the role of his/her family, community, state and other service providers, we work together with all relevant stakeholders to find the most appropriate response to the situation of children at risk of losing parental care and those without parental care. In Nigeria, SOS Children’s Villages (SOS CV Nigeria) has been active since 1973 and has presence in Lagos, Ogun, Plateau, Oyo, Kaduna, Borno and Edo states as well as Abuja-FCT. Over the past forty-seven years, we have provided quality child care and protection to orphaned and abandoned children through our Alternative Care and Family Strengthening Programmes.
PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE INITIATIVE
The Next Economy Programme – “How African Youths Make it Work”, empowers Nigerian youths to unleash their talents, build their confidence and hone the skills they need for a successful career in a job role or as an entrepreneur. The programme is designed to accommodate the diverse ambitions of young people in Nigeria who are entering the labour market. With the help of the programme, young people will gain crosscutting professional skills which may be lacking in the learning curricula of higher institutions. The contracted service provider will design the training curriculum which will define the content of the training programme.
TARGET GROUP
The Next Economy Programme, is targeted at vulnerable young people in Nigeria. The activities generally target young people between the ages of 18 and 35, who are graduates and are in need of required sills for an effective career in the workplace.
TERMS FOR THE EMPLOYABILITY TRAINING AND INTERNSHIP PLACEMENT
The employability skills training component of the Next Economy Programme in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, is aimed to prepare youths by equipping them with skills that meet the demands of the local labour market and to guide them, through internships, to a “decent job”.
In view of this, SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria is seeking highly experienced and qualified training professionals to facilitate a 2-week training on employability skills for selected participants, as well as facilitate the placement and linkages of participants who successfully complete the employability trajectory training into internship positions and to ensure they secure decent jobs.
