FOR TRAINING OF VSLA WOMEN ON INCOME GENERATION ACTIVITIES (IGA) IN NASARAWA AND PLATEAU STATES

INTRODUCTION
Cultural barriers, negative social norms and misconstrued religious beliefs have over the years limited women from contributing to decision making, taking up leadership roles and leading business enterprises in Africa particularly in Nigeria. Women have oftentimes been confined to the home fronts engaging only in unpaid care works and other low-skill, low-value activities.Oxfam’s rural financing strategy –the Village Savings and Loans Association was established and implemented to ensure financial inclusion at the community levels across its project locations and specifically to stimulate economic activities at the rural levels, while ensuring women and youth have access to financial assets towards achieving their livelihood outcomes.
